Text Box: This year has been an exciting one for the UK Association. So far we have managed to further cement our ties with the school and through that with students leaving Barbados to study in the UK.

Our AGM was held on 3rd of April at the Barbados High Commission. That date coincided with an important cricket match and allegiances were tested; Combermere won, and the AGM was well attended. I would like to thank the outgoing committee members Jerome Hall former Vice President and Pearson Nurse former Treasurer for their help and support during the past year; and welcome our new committee onboard.

In April whilst in Barbados I had the privilege of being inText Box: vited to attend one of the Cadet Centenary committee meetings. My visit coincided with the CSOSA Barbados end of the month reunion and that was the launchpad for attendance at several other such ‘meetings’.

Mr Parris and I discussed how we could further raise the profile of the association in Barbados and means of assisting the school in the future. During the meeting Mr Parris received some tie-pins (valued £400) on the behalf of the Graduation Class and the IYSF fundraising.

Our inaugural Quiz in June was well attended and proved to be a fun evening for everyone there.

In August we hosted the Combermerian students who visited as part of a Barbadian delegation attending the International Youth Science Forum based at London University.

Our fundraising Dinner and Ball this year will be held in the Studio Suite at London Kensington Forum hotel on 23rd October 2004.

Thank-you sponsors, members and friends – together we will move up and on!

Verona Sandiford-Murray
President CSOSAUK
